Every so often, a new edition of Blips on the Radar insists on writing itself. As America turns 250, these are the latest observations to appear on Mikey’s radar.

Cosmic Questioning

Certain aspects of the universe, having been apparently influenced by the not infrequent adverse human component, are unfortunately showing signs of exposure to the Confusion Mind Virus that has been ravaging the population of planet Earth of late. Night appears to have been one of the first serious casualties, officially announcing that it now identifies as Day. Day, having always been fairly comfortable with its nocturnal side, has graciously agreed to identify as Night in an effort to maintain  a semblance of equilibrium. Pending a heavenly appeal to the Creator for cyclical-affirming surgery, everyone is encouraged to adjust their schedules accordingly.

Leadership by Opposition

When your greatest organizing principle becomes opposition to someone else, you’ve quietly handed that person the steering wheel. Eventually, you may find yourself following the very road you meant to avoid. One of the more surprising voices of reason of late, Democratic U.S. Senator John Fetterman recently stated that the Democratic Party currently has “no real leader” and is instead governed by “TDS” (Trump Derangement Syndrome). He explained that this mindset causes Democrats to automatically reject anything President Trump proposes without acknowledging good outcomes. 

Reinvention

Every generation believes it has discovered what’s wrong with America. However, some reasoning seems to be more akin to teen rebellion. Take this recent blurb from FOX ‘News’ for example: (former Democrat) Joe Manchin responds to being told 62% of Democrats now prefer socialism over capitalism, “If they do, there isn’t a Democrat Party left. That’s another reason why I’m not registered as a Democrat.” A truly wise generation might also want to consider what is right with America.

Selfies

Is the front-facing camera one of civilization’s greatest mistakes? Mikey has not ruled it out as our society has seemingly become obsessed with documenting itself instead of simply living. And while Mikey tries to avoid doling out advice, here’s an exception: If you’re standing next to something grand, like the Grand Canyon for example, maybe look at that instead of yourself and take a picture of it and post that if you must. But please, send Mikey a Selfie—NOT!
